Hugs For Food Lady!!

... orrrr, hail the cookie Gods. Take your pick.
Tweed picks cookies.

You always think the worst of me. Maybe I'll kill you for that.

So, wow ... I was really overwhelmed with your response to Red Dog's Memorial Post. What a great bunch you are! I am sorry I made a bunch of you cry too ... I'm trying to figure out a way to exploit this underused talent and make a bazillion dollars from it. Then I can pay for all the dental work Piper is going to need, after a large metal caribiner hit her in the face and split one of her teeth in half last week (long story, don't ask).

But I won't need it for agility entries, because tomorrow Tweed is going to get his last Masters Snookers Q for his Almighty ATCh. Right?

I said, RIGHT?!

I'm not sure. I think my foot is broken. See?

To be fair, Tweed did have some kind of crazy, whine-and-cry-and-limp inducing crashbang with Nate today. You all know Nate as Boomer from our rescue. We had a chance meeting with The BoomBoom today, and he took Tweed down.

Who, me?

Tweed was going to beat the crap out of him for it with a Really Big Stick ...

...but Piper and Woo staged an intervention. At least, I think that's what they were doing.

I don't know if this happens to you very often, but on a fairly regular basis someone wants to breed one of my dogs to their dogs. I am thinking about traveling with a soapbox from now on, because that's a topic that can get me on it in a hurry! Today it was the owner of this cute little Australian Shepherd.

She wanted to breed her to Tweed (Hah! Good luck with that. Not only is Tweed neutered, but he also doesn't like girls. Tweed only likes underage boys, and the occasional pant leg).

I said that there are literally thousands of Australian Shepherds in rescues/shelters all across North America and that breeding your dog to a certified weirdo mutt you meet in the park is probably one of the worst ideas a person could come up with and -

HEY! GET OUT OF THE SHOT, RANDOM DOG!

We are really, really tired of the snow snow snow everywhere snow.

It's pretty and all

But we are all pretty bored with it now, I think.

Who wants to see grass again?

Me!ME!Me!ME!Me!ME!

Blargh. Stupid snow.

Wish us luck tomorrow! It could be Tweed's big day!!

Good luck! Boomer (who I fostered for a while) is looking very handsome, but we all know that handsome is as handsome does. Is he a good guy?

Is he a good guy?

Well .... they are having some problems with him. He is still quite the shit when it comes to his stuff and other dogs. Also, he has some impulse control issues that he is also taking out on other dogs. I gave them some resources, and offered to work with him if they need it. He is pretty good, but sometimes he gets a bit squirrely!

Just read the red dog post and had to wipe away tears. Both of sadness for Briggs and joy for Sport.

Good luck Tweed, I hope you get your Q or else you may not have any cookie Gods to praise... just one PO-ed Food Lady!

If Tweed doesn't Q I have a 13 week old BC X Aussie foster who is smart as a whip that I would be happy to send you. She really likes shoes, especially expensive one...

Good luck with that Q!

One day we were doing a flyball demo at a large Pet Fair. I was holding the leash of my teammate's very pretty, spayed red merle BC. A woman came over and asked me if she could breed her male to this female. Why? Because she has an Australian Shepherd, too! He's blue merle! At least, she thinks he's an Australian Shepherd, but they aren't sure! After admitting that my charge was spayed, I enlightened her on the breed issue and the double merle issue, and I think I successfully drove her away before moving onto the thousands of unwanted Aussie (not to mention mixed) puppies in the world....

Hey, you asked for snow......

I have yet to run into anyone who wanted to breed their dog to Cobweb, but I've run into several people who have asked for a puppy. Um, sorry folks, my dog is no longer equipped to be a mommy. Yes, she's a great dog, yes she's very pretty, but she's the last of her line.

And can I get a Tweed-hug? I wuv fluffy doggie hugs....

Good luck Tweed, hope you do your food lady proud and get that Q all done!

Poor Piper, teeth issues are no fun. (Just ask my Cappuccino, he has NO front teeth.) I hope she gets to feeling better soon, I would hate to see Mad Teeth tm out of commission.

Good luck Tweed, bring home that ATCH! (or whatever the correct acronym is for the Canadian title- I *think* it's ATCH anyway...) Everyone chant with me- "Go Tweed go! Go Tweed go! Go Tweed go! Go Tweed go!" As Rob Schnider would say, "YOU CAN DO EEET!" (said with bad Cajun accent. Forgive me for the goofy movie reference-I'm a dork and can't help it.) : )

You should write a book about Briggs and about helping him change his behavior. I have read several (many?) books on the subject ("Bringing Light To Shadow", "How to Right a Dog Gone Wrong", etc.) but they are all written by professional trainers w/ access to incredible resources and students and other trainers. Perhaps you, too, had lots of resources but I think your journey with Briggs and your rescue work would make a wonderful book given the depth of your feelings and your humor. Oh, yes, and your photographs! I knew I was forgetting something. :-)

Best of luck today. You can do it, Tweed!

Poor Piper -- tooth trouble is no fun! And good luck to you and Tweed both.

I've never had anyone ask about breeding to my dog, but that may be because of our city's dog park regulations. To use the dog parks, you need a special tag -- US$12/year for the first dog, lower for each additional dog. If you get caught in one of the parks sans tag (they do random checks), it's a $150 per dog fine. To get the tag, your dog has to have a license, which is $10/year for altered animals (or free if their owner is over 60) and $75 for unaltered. So we get very few fertile doggies at our parks. It's just too expensive.

Go Tweedy! Just concentrate--you can do it! We expect an immediate update on your new ATCH.

I have had so many total strangers ask to breed their girls to my handsome (neutered) Aussie boy. He has blue eyes, so that makes him a very, very qualified as a sire you know. Sheesh.

Oh, and Food Lady, the snow is all your fault. I am sure you did some crazy "I want snow dance" when you went up to Cypress then you left us all with it while you sunned yourself in Mexico. Payback is a beatch!
