*dances in distance with tongue out*

(Today's title is completely meaningless. It came up as an autofill for the Header, which means I must have been taunting someone on the internetz at some point. It amuses me, so I used it)

Mr. Woo wants you to know that he is *SO* over Sport.

What? I dunno.

Earlier this week we had our monthly board meeting with the non-profit I work for. Because the weather is nice (allegedly) and because they are trying to break me (more likely) they held the meeting in Coquitlam (muy lejos on the highway, meester!!) at one of the board member's homes, instead of in my downtown office building. I brought Mr. Woo along with me, as he wanted to play with Leo, the resident dog.

Leo is a very handsome border collie X German Shepherd Dog.

He also has a ridiculously long tongue

Really, the reason I brought Mr. Woo is twofold

1) Because there was a baby in residence, and Mr. Woo (unlike Tweed) is good with babies
2) I can leave the house with ONE dog, which is Mr. Woo; ALL dogs or NO dogs. Mr. Woo does not stand for me taking another dog out without him. The last time I tried to take Tweed to the store, Mr. Woo busted down the babygate and was hurling himself against the front door screaming. What kind of separation anxiety is this? He doesn't do this when I leave for work or otherwise leave the house with no dogs! What a spoiled rotten little brat!

"Who, me? Nah!"

Anyway, although we went to the beach and took lots of photos, as is the norm, I thought you might like to see some pictures of the dogs from a different angle.

Like, The Gettin' A Cookie From Food Lady angle

Or I'm Really Old, Let Me Get Up Close And Personal To Smell You angle

And of course the OMGINEEDTHATCOOKEAREYOUGOINGTOGIVEITGIVEITGIVEITTOMENOW!!! angle

And there's always the Ridiculously Happy Dog angle

The Mr Woo and Food Lady Both Have Skinny Legs angle

And then, there was the beach.

Someone asked me the other day how many shots I have to take in a session and how many of them turn out to be winners. That varies from session to session. I can, however, show you some photos that I like to call Almost Famous. I get quite a lot of these shots.

This one is *almost* awesome. Except it isn't, and that makes it ass.

And ... oops.

And I'm not sure what category this falls into even. I don't have an interpretive dance section!

But Wootie tries to make up for the bad photos by providing me with the opportunity to take good photos.

... of soccer

... of Mad Teeth (tm) Response

and of course, ears.

I tried to take a group photo and two things happened

1) I learned that Sport is not entirely sure what "Stay" means, as he kept getting up and leaving
and
2) I lost my balance as I was taking the photo and fell over, so the photo is crooked!! But still cute.

Sport continues to do just fine on the Prednisone. He thinks raw chicken is pretty gross, but likes raw lamb quite a bit. He likes to run a lot now, which is disconcerting, as he looks like a Zombie from a proper Zombie movie (ie, not the Fast Zombies movies that are all the rage nowdays) when he does it, but he can motor along pretty good.

He is still skinny, but now he just looks like a skinny old dog, so people don't make "tsk tsk" sounds under their breath when I walk past them anymore. But having a Really Old Dog is kind of like a competitive sport (pardon the pun) ... when I run into other people with other Really Old Dogs it gets a little tense. So far, I have won every encounter ... my going-on-17 year old dog is always older than your dog!

I *heart* old dogs. (Good ol' Sport. He's got some mileage left in them legs.)

I *heart* Piper's MadTeethTM. And Woo's ginormous hearing appendages. And Tweed...well, for being Tweed of course!

I love all your dogs, but I'm kinda partial to Sport. Thank you for including him in your dog family.

A great blog - and you are a gifted writer. :D

Food Lady, do you seriously have little paw print tattoos running up your arm? Seriously? :)

I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE the paw tattoos :) I took some pics of Ella and her brother Fenway yesterday and should have them up soon. I have a similar "dance" shot with Fen looking straight up :D

Food Lady - srsly - has lots of tattoos running up her arms. The paw prints are just some of them :) And there are more to come. I'm inky.

Yes. Yes, his ears are insanity. I have never seen another dogs with ears as whack as his!!

I love all your dogs, but I'm kinda partial to Sport.

Excellent! When are you coming to get him??

Errmmm ....

I seem to own Sporty by default, as in - no one else seems to want him. And understandably, as he was stinky, emaciated and had one foot in the grave when he arrived. But now that he is a pretty active, eating, nonstinky senior, it might be possible to find him a home. The last thing we need to sort out are his teeth and then this decision can be made.

The thing about Sport is that I am not *really* attached to him. He is a nice old dog, but as with all fosters, I am always aware they are fosters. He really deserves to be someone's dog.

But possibly more importantly, I am not a 'doter' - I more or less ignore my dogs when I am not interacting with them for a reason (training, exercise, photos etc). Sport would LOVE to have someone who wanted to dote on him, rub his ears, stroke his back until he fell asleep etc. And that's just not the sort of dog owner I am. I am aware of this and comfortable with it, but I think Sport might appreciate and deserve a little more doting. If I can find that for him, I'm willing to let him go and be doted on for the rest of his life.

If I lived anywhere near you and didn't already have a dog who bites other dogs at the beach, I would take Sport and dote on him as much as he wanted. It is such good news that he is eating and feeling better.

Do Woo's ears help him be air borne as he always seems to be? Waiting for the picture of him flying low flapping his ears.

It's not uncommon for dogs to have real separation anxiety that is OK if the other dog(s) is/are at home. Sep. anx. dogs are often very rigid about what qualifies to make it OK to be left at home so it's also not surprising that Woo's rule involves ALL dogs being left at home. He seems like a pretty emotional guy.

I am in love with Sport and also Woo's ears are awe-inspiring.

Thanks for the Woo-heavy photos, Food Lady! Only thing that would make it better would be a Flamboyance-heavy photo series! Kisses to Woo!

OMG! Mr. Woo is just the limit, isn't he?! What an expressive face. I love all the photos, but those of Mr. Woo are amazing. What acrobatics!

Well yes ... but a few weeks ago I took Piper to Tour de Gastown and Mr. Woo did not make a peep. Which I find funny, because he loves Piper. Tweed, not so much. He is an odd little duck, the Woo is. Also, very very bad and disobedient.

OMG! Mr. Woo is just the limit, isn't he?!

Oh he really is! The limit of my patience ... no, just kidding. Wootie is his own little hairy person for sure. He can always make me laugh. And, you know, cry.

I thought of you at the park today. We had a Tweed lookalike. Scorch LOATHED him but he and Wolfie got along pretty well.
