Ladies Night

Please indulge me, blog readers. I promise not to go off topic often. But yesterday Piper and I went for a walk to watch the Tour de Gastown which is a relatively famous bicycle race that happens to raise money for cancer. It *also* happens to be full of boys on bicycles - two of my favourite things, but together!

Piper got to come with because she likes all people everywhere, unlike Tweed, and Wootie wanted to stay home and eat a lamb bone.

So it was just us gals, ogling some bike p0rN together.

We were not standing in a very good spot, as the event was packed and it was hard to get to the fence as it was. In fact, Piper had to charm her way into a spot - no one was moving for ME! So I did not take many photos. Also, drool is bad for the 20D.

Yummy.

Piper claimed that it was a really long walk for not much satisfaction - she likes neither bicycles nor the art of racing them. She got kind of interested when this guy fell down, because Piper believes that all people at Piper level are there for the purpose of loving on her.

So to make it up to Piper, who felt shunned by the downed racer who never even looked her way one time, today we went to the beach.

As is normal for Beach Day, Mr. Woo got some Big Air

But the Wootie Toy is holding his interest less and less these days. After about 3 throws, he's bored. So I bounced Piper's ball for him instead and learned something new, either thanks to the angle of the shots ... or it's unique to Woo playing with Piper's precious toy.

Now tell me, dear blog readers, what do these photos have in common (besides not being stellar pictures, I mean)??

Do you see what I see?

MAD TEETH (tm) in the background of every photo! Apparently, Mr. Woo is not allowed to play with The Princess' ball as it makes her ANGRY. What a witch!!

I mean look at this!

Oh ... hold the phone sister, there are no Mad Teeth (tm) in this photo. There isn't even a PIPER in that photo. The black and white border collie in the back is Sport!

Bet you didn't know that Sport could run! But he can!

Look at him go!

It's the weirdest thing. He is, after all, basically a bag of bones rattling around in a thin furry shell, yet somehow he manages to pass himself off as a live dog.

He still would like to be indulged when it comes to food. The rules of feeding Sport are:
Rule # 1 - never talk about Feeding Sport

Just kidding

#1 - Never expect him to eat out of a bowl, or off a plate
#2 - Never offer something you offered him at the last meal
#3 - Never assume that he won't eat something because he claimed to hate it the last time you offered it to him.
#4 - Never assume that he will eat something because he claimed to like it the last time you offered it to him.

...etc. I am force-feeding him about 1/3rd the time, hand feeding him almost all of the other 2/3rds, with a small percentage for the times he actually eats food of his own volition.

He is still a bag of bones. No matter how much I stuff into him, he doesn't seem to gain any weight. But he does not seem unreasonably miserable or anything.

"Oh hai!"

"Stop taking my photo now."

Doesn't look like the face of a dog who bites other dogs at the dog park, does it?

Mr. Woo gets all sniffy when he's not the center of attention!

Tweed hates Sport and avoids him at all costs.

Look! A really cute puppy!

Sport's tastes sound similar to Molly. She only eats (unreliably) when hand fed or given something really spectacular and won't eat the same thing several times in a row.

If he can eat kibble at all, you could try visiting various pet stores and picking up sample bags of kibble. That way it is new all the time. ;-)

Sport is obviously feeling better even if he does have to be force fed some of the time still - what a great dog!
Run, Sport, Run!

Eat, Sport, Eat!!!

Poor Tweed - his nose is out of joint. I think he better come live with me.

The lighting in the "All Hail" photo makes Sport look like he's got a Hi Pro Glow.

So you've got a new job desc.: Sport's Food Coaxer.

Does he rattle when he runs? For the first time, I can see how skinny he is.

Sweet pictures! If you're taking requests, want to check out a triathlon sometime? The swim-to-bike transition is sweeeet.

Biggie is on a hunger strike too, since my sister left. He's just sad and out of sorts. Will Sport drink doggy Ensure? Or is he as 'picky' about drinks too?

You DID use the spike trap! I knew you couldn't resist....

I immediately thought of you when the puppy came to the beach! You are the only person I know with beardies.

If he can eat kibble at all, you could try visiting various pet stores and picking up sample bags of kibble.

If Sport ate kibble, there would be a lot less whining coming from me!! Alas, he will only kibble from my palm in the park - nowhere else.

Poor Tweed - his nose is out of joint. I think he better come live with me.

Address please! If he does not Q this weekend, he is all yours.

Does he rattle when he runs?

Right? He is so skinny I am embarrassed out in public.

If you're taking requests, want to check out a triathlon sometime? The swim-to-bike transition is sweeeet.

Now I find some of those triathlon men a little skinny for even my tastes, and I like skinny boys. When we had the Olympic triathlon thingy here a couple of months ago, they were everywhere ... and some of them had thighs the size of calves. And I'm not exactly a large person! But I will see what I can do ;-)

You DID use the spike trap!

Did not! If I had, like I would have any free time to post to the blog!!!

Sport looks somehow different...like maybe he got a bath? And doesn't smell? His coat is so shiny in those photos.

Some random thoughts about Sport's eating habits. (1) Maybe his owner just fed him table scraps rather than meals, so he's been being hand fed for years. (2) Maybe he is so smelly that his odor affects his being able to identify food by smell.

Seriously, though, he is looking distinctly better, at least in the photos.

Sport is looking happier and happier each day. Nice to see (even if he is too damn skinny).

Aww your dogs are so cute! I wish my english bulldog had a problem eating. She's so fat she's on diet food. And do you know of any toys that are indestructible? My bullie tears up everything I buy her. (Again she's a fatass and eats anything) She has a black kong that is still in one piece but he is the lone survivor in toys.

I'd fight Jean for the honor of living with Tweed. Unfortunately, The Giz would fight Tweed for the honor of living with me. They are too much alike. Giz only likes soft dogs.

Cute, fluffy beardie who just-got-to-the-beach. Where are the "after" photos?

Sport looks FABULOUS (even if he rattles when he runs!)

Woo definitely needs to come visit (and bring you and your camera along as well but hide the evidence from border patrol) because I have a place for BIG AIR SHOTS FOR THE WOO:

Ah, I knew we had more in common than a history of living in small apartments with too many dogs and a fetish for red Border Collies. I see that you also share my passion for Golden Hams, I mean, boys on bikes. There's something about giant thighs, noodle arms, and spandex that just really, really does it for me.

Oh, and Sport looks great!

If only FIFA would return from his ocean adventure! Thanks for the Woo-tail shots! If I could only touch the Flamboyance.....

Sport looks like a young dog in the pictures!

Right?!? HAWT! I mean sometimes I was busy ogling the bikes, and then all I had to do was move my eyes a couple of inches and then I was ogling boys. It was basically Food Lady's Perfect Scenario. If could run faster, perhaps I could have caught one and taken him home!

"Sport looks somehow different...like maybe he got a bath? And doesn't smell? His coat is so shiny in those photos."

Sport did get a bath, but not before those photos were taken. It has not helped the smell situation at all - he stinks, if possible, MORE after his bath than he did prior. It's downright icky.

We had a couple of days of promising eating and are now back to starving ourselves. Sport now has an unfortunate deadline for getting on track eating wise before we contemplate laying him gently to rest. Because while there is a lot of pep in the old man, he cannot starve himself to death and I cannot keep force-feeding him.

At some point in the next couple of weeks, we need to make a decision about his future :(

Yesterday I tried to buy Mr. Woo a used FIFA at the used sporting goods store. I figured 'why buy new?' when I could help recycle one. Yeahwell, they were $20.00! WTF?

No FIFA for Wootie.

That particular photo of Tweed needs to go into every dictionary next to "disgruntled".
