My camera is in the shop, hence the lack of updates. But I did want to let MC Hamster's fans know that last night, he expired in his sleep :( He was old - like a million in hamster years - and it was his time to go.

Poor Hammy! One of the first posts I ever read on your blog was just after you'd gotten him. I will always remember those pictures fondly, especially the staged ones with the other four-leggeds in the house that caused some of your readers to accuse you of hamster abuse. ;o)

By chasing madly after him every time he so much as looked at the sheep, hollering at him and promising all kinds of holy hell if he didn't leave them alone, and using his stock stick to keep Wootie away from the sheep. In no time at all, Woo decided chasing them was just not worth it ;-)
When *I* chase Wootie he just laughs at me. But Ruedi is new to Woo, so it made a big impression on him!

average life span for a hamster is somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 years, give or take a bit. I know this because I am a teacher and we always have them in our classrooms. I always have to get one of the kind of tan-colored ones (as opposed to the neat/unusual colors or the spotted ones) so when they die I can get another and the children won't notice
