So Long ... Farewell

It's time to say goodbye!

We had our last puppy visit last night. This weekend the Peanuts turn 8 weeks old. Next week they head off to their new forever homes. A happysad time for all.

Adios, Charlie. Enjoy your new life with Sue and Glee!

What? You're sending me away?!

You're going to LOVE living with Phil and Mary, Franklin!

*yawn* Wake me when we get there.

*zzzzzzz*

Buh Bye Linus. Scott will treat you right!

Yeah uh-huh, whatever, NOMNOMNOM

Make us proud, Lucy. The Deacons can't wait to welcome you!

Put me down. There is havoc to wreak.

And I'm taking this with me.

Patty, please do something with those ears before you go live with Cathie.

I'm affronted!

Sweet Sally, I'm sad to see you go, but Nan is going to love you.

ha ha ha. That's what she thinks. I hope she has lots of pants.

And Schroeder, please don't bite the Jan and Wally in the crotch!

Stop pointing that facebox at me.

Pretty soon it will be time to say good bye to Miss Maeve as well.

Say what?

Today she is meeting what we hope will be her forever home, on beautiful Bowen Island.

Don't make me go! I wuv you :(

BOOHOO! I am so sad about Maeve. But I know she is going to LOVE her new home. No Tweed standing sentry in doorways to prevent her from coming in to visit me. No Piper to flash Mad Teeth (tm) at her every 10 seconds. Two humans who will take her hiking and swimming and trail running - she's going to absolutely adore it there. I wouldn't let her go if I didn't think she would.

So who wants to help me move into my new place on October 30th. Anyone? Hello?

*crickets*

Oh come ON people!! Lend a girl a hand!

I'll let you hold my new puppy, Spike!

(didn't see that one coming, did ya? Heh heh heh).

Seriously though, I could really use some help moving...

Spike was secretly my favorite all along.

You got a puppy! Haha, after reading about you wanting one for such a long time, I'm truly happy for you. And I'm definitely seconding the notion that it'll be great to see pictures of the little guy as he grows up!

So - congrats. On the new place, and the new pup. I'd help you move in if I wasn't waaay over here on the other side of the country, haha. Good luck with everything!

Were you closer, I would be happy to help you move, if only to meet your dogs. :) Tragically, however...

"... auf Wiedersehen, good night!"

I'd help you move if I weren't in California. I'd love to meet the crew! Best of luck on the move.

And, OMG, Spike?! For reals?

Congrats on the new puppy! (I just finished putting another bandaid on my fresh puppy bite)
I would seriously love to help you move. I am close enough, however I do not have a passport. And they are required now to cross the border, right? Crap! Hope you find tons of help. You are going to LOVE "livin in da sticks"!

Yey! Puppy pictures for MONTHS to come! And then adult pictures too!

I'd come and help you move (I want to mee the Woo) but I think it's slightly too far from Scotland.

Another sad look from the other side of the continent... (GA, USA).

Yay Spike!

Spike has been my favorite, because he is so cute with his full mask! Now we get lots of Spike, anytime. Tweedster may need to watch out, I may share my heart with Spike!

Unfortunately, I will not be able to hold Spike, nor help you move due to location.

Congrats!

I kept waiting for Spike's good-bye picture, because his markings are my favorite. Now I get to see them often; hurray for all of us! Happy moving day from Oregon; lucky Spike who will get to grow up a country boy!

So -- why Spike????? Dish!

Calloo! Callay! Spike wins the lottery and goes to live with you and the gang! Have they all met him and given approval? Can't wait for pictures of them all.

The picture of Maeve is beautiful and a tribute to your feelings for her. No one doubts that you found the perfect home for her.

If I was closer, I would definitely help with your move but I remember what a great job your mother did when you moved to your condo. I hope she hasn't decided she has helped with enough moves.

So -- why Spike????? Dish!

Cuz he was the only one that wasn't spoken for - nobody applied for him!

nickelsmum said...

Hmmmm.... I am certain someone would have applied soon enough. Why do I suspect you were just lying in wait for an excuse? He is verrrrry cute. I had a cat named Spike once. For sure -- your Spike is smarter.

The Border Collies said...

Hmmmm.... I am certain someone would have applied soon enough.

Over 100 applications received for the pups. Zero of them were for Spike! He was actually among the last of the pups I would have chosen, if I'd had a pick, but I am going to give it a go, see how he does with my pack.

nickelsmum said...

Holy cow! He's so cute? Do you think it's 'cause of his mask? At least he doesn't have *hopeless ears.* :)

RachelB said...

They're all darling, and I'm so glad that one of them gets to stay with you! I wish you many happy years together.

Congrats on the new PUPPY! Very happy for you and know he will love your new home and his siblings :) I so look forward to your adventures together!

...such a lovely sensitive portrait of Maeve. I will miss her too.
Welcome to Spike.

Since each one is cuter than the last, I am curious as to why Spike would have been your last choice? My first sheltie was named Spike and was one of the world's all time great dogs. Spike is a noble name and I'm sure he will wear it well if he survives the Mad Teeth(tm)

Jody said...

I am so excited for you! He looks to me like he'll be a little quick guy - maybe because the black mask reminds me of TuaLizzy's Jak? A perfect Tweed hump-ee for sure!

nickelsmum said...

Pitifully, I am still chuckling over "I hope she has more pants."

The Border Collies said...

I am curious as to why Spike would have been your last choice?

1. for weeks and weeks (since birth actually) he was the biggest pup in the litter. I have never wanted a big dog.

2. for weeks and weeks he has been the bossiest, pushiest most dominant pup in the litter. Lucy has now taken over that role though.

3. his markings and structure don't appeal to me as much as, say, Franklin's do.

But handsome is as handsome does, and I figure if he just kept getting passed up by adopters, maybe it was because he was meant for me. I don't know though!

Alaska said...

But how high can he jump? A boy named "Spike" should be able to gain some serious altitude.

This is all very exciting. I predict that Spike's appearance on the scene will cause blog readership to go through the roof.

And I shall send telepathic moving assistance on the appointed day. Sorry, it's the best I can do.

That is so weird that no one applied for Spike... I mean, he's marked like Fever. Who wouldn't want a dog marked like Fever?!

Spike?! Yay! You are getting a monster :) Sorry, can't help you move but I'm "sure" Spike will!

Congrats!

that wouldn't be because you peppered every blog entry with claims of how evil he was, was it?

Wowee! So many changes! New Place! New Puppy, New Pack! Geezz!! You are an awesome woman FL, I must say!! ;)

Good luck on the Spike front! Hope the pack will get alone fine! Good thing he's only a wee 8 weeks old.. enough time for Bozz Tweed to show him who's Bozz. If not, Baby Woo surely will!

Sad news for Maeve but like you said, she deserves someone who's happy she's not sproing anytime soon, and you deserve a dog whom you can jump into his/her sunset years.

Though I muz say, after having 2 males in the family, you are VERY COURAGEOUS to get a 3rd!

Good luckz!

On moving, I will really come by if we were on the same continent. Haiz.

When I read this post I started crying. I'm not sure why.

Puppies??? There's Puppies!!!

Or that Maeve is leaving. And you HAD to post the 'But I luvs you' shot!

Anyway ... yay for Spike! and yay for Maeve! I'm sure her new peoples will love her bunches.

Congrats on Spike. Bossy & pushy you say - you love challenges. Larger than you wanted - there's room on 10 acres. Not your favourite markings - since when did you care, you're all about character and personality. 100 applicants and not one for Spike - you hid them. You planned this, you don't fool us. Spike is a very lucky puppy.

I'll help you move. I'll look after Tweed for a day or two or forever.

The Border Collies said...

You planned this, you don't fool us.

Actually I really did not. I didn't want an 8 week old puppy, I wanted something in the 4-6 month range. Alas, it seems fate picked me for Spike. However, we will need to see how he does with my guys, because he is a very bossy puppy and if they can't tolerate him, I will not stress them out more than they already are.
