What's on YOUR picnic table??

Missing from the photo are Red Dog, who can't get up on that table, and Boomer, who would NOT get up on that table.

What? Who is Boomer you ask?

Boomer

Boomer is TDBCR's latest acquisition. He's about 7 months old and although was advertised as a BC X Lab, looks like a smooth coat Aussie red BC to us. He is one good looking dog. He's a damn fine cup of coffee! And he is looking for a home.

'Course, he doesn't hold a candle to the most sophisticated, always composed, Cooper.

Oh, Cooper. (Cooper is still looking for a home too. I know. We don't get it either.)

Cooper had an evil twin at the beach today. I mean, I'm sure he wasn't actually evil and was probably a very nice dog, but he looked like Evil Cooper. I don't know what's with the Twin Peaks references in this entry. I apologize.

Evil Cooper

And speaking of twins ... the Doublemints were at it again today:

"Get out of the shot, Ryan!"

So there we were at the beach, with 8 border collies and Abby

(Abby)

And we ran into random guy who is my new hero. He's my new hero because he didn't even bat an eyelash at the overwhelming amount of energy we we carting along with. In fact, all he wanted to do was chat about iPhones and didn't even seem to notice that we had the 9 Dogs Of The Apocalypse with us.

It could be because he was roaming around with these:

In my experience, one hunting dog = 4 border collies with respect to insane energy levels. No wonder he wasn't phased!

Eeep.

Crazy ears interlude!

Red Dog is still motoring along. Half his face remains paralyzed, no change on that front, and since the Doggles (tm) eating incident, we have agreed he may lurch around unencumbered by tacky sunglasses. In return, he promises not to raid my garbage can anymore. It seemed a fair trade.
But it's kind of sad-slash-pathetic too, because RD's bottom lip droops on the paralyzed side of his face. It forms a sort of scoopy "u" shape of extra lip, and it kept filling up with sand. Sometimes I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the bizarre ailments my dogs come down with.

Coookie Uncle showed up with a hangover and a pair of shorts. Fortunately for us all, he was wearing the shorts. But it is the middle of winter, and none of us were sure why he was wearing shorts.

Wootie says "I don't care if you suffer from Inappropriate Clothing Syndrome, Cookie Uncle. I will worship at the Altar Of Short Pants if it means cookies will rain down upon me." And so it came to pass.

I suspect even Lars was embarrassed about the short pants. He seemed to hope the earth would just swallow him.

Poor Lars

So yeah, Cooper and Boomer are looking for homes of their own. They are two fantastic dogs!

Cooper is about a year old and is a smart, responsive, athletic, sweet and cuddly dog. His turn ons include Vacuum Cleaner Wrestling and cookies.

Boomer is about 7 months old and he likes to party. He says his ideal partner is an agility competitor who likes to have a little fun with tennis balls. He enjoys mud wrestling and acquisitions (of toys).

Tell your friends!

There are no puppy photos this weekend, alas. I did not have the time to make the trek out there to visit my poopsies. Maybe next weekend.

TSFCNTSDM - Episode 2

Location: The Kitchen

Today's guest judge:

One Angry Donut

The fabulous prizes: Still nothing. Oh wait, one cookie (I'm running low).

...which Donut ate

Red Dog has struck a most telling pose. In layman's terms, it could be interpreted simply as:

Food Lady, you suck.

Moving along ...

Mr. Woo says "I'm thinking seriously, for the first time in my vapid life. Specifically, I'm thinking about killing you."

Eeek. Even Donut has to look away

Tweed has his eye on the prize, which is rapidly disappearing down Donut's throat. He knows there is no payoff

Poor Tweed

ha ha.

Piper has used the garment to her advantage, hiding her overly large ears

but in the end, she simply resorts to nakedly begging to remain another week.

Or possibly she was begging for the cookie.

Which Donut ate.

I think I'm in real trouble now. I stumbled into the Children Of The Corn. Eep.

I haz puppy party

*gleeful hand clapping*

It was puppy visit day!! I was so excited.

The puppies are E-NOR-MOUS. Huge. They are now 6 weeks old and fat and sassy and have way more teeth than any puppies on this earth should be allowed to have. If you poured water on my toes, they would behave like little sprinklers now, because they were pierced 90 000 times during my visit. I don't care! So much cuteness!! Why are puppies so much cuter at other people's houses??

Cindy is still the smallest of the bunch, and is full of p&v. It looks like Cindy may be staying with her foster home. I have no idea why, it's not like the kids love her or anything.

Cindy is most precious.

Big Boy Bobby is still ... big. Bigger than the other puppies. He has one brown eye, and one half blue, half brown eye. I wasn't expecting that!

Jan's tri colour is spreading all over. She has tri bits on her head now too. She is just lovely.

As usual, Marsha is gorgeous in person, but is so not photogenic. She has two bright blue eyes.

Her brother in merleness, Mike, is one of the best looking pups I have ever seen. He has two marbled eyes, half brown, half blue.
He's going to break some hearts, this one!

Picasso remains the chatty man of the pack, and is such a good looking dog. I like his little egghead!

And Cousin Oliver ... well, I managed to mess up his photo even though he was asleep and dead still. But just imagine one of the other puppies in all black and you'll get the idea.

The kids are doing a GREAT job socializing the pups. The little tykes are getting picked up, swung around, played with, napped with and just generally have a lot more attention than they ever would have gotten here. They are going to make great family dogs and the folks who adopt them are going to be very lucky.

I was happy to see Mona, because Mona was happy to see me! I got big love at the door, and many hugs and adoring tail thumps. She is very attached to her new foster mum, which makes me all gushy, but she didn't forget me.

She is lovely, Mona.

And Uncle Finn is doing a GREAT job. He loves on the puppies, and has even taught Mona how to play. He is so docile and even tempered with her. This is a shout out to Mr. Handsome Finn Man.

It was worth driving out to the boonies in sub zero temperatures for sure. My car, which likes to tell me how cold it is outside, simply said the word ICE today. Brrr.

-------------------------

Red Dog has had a change of heart. He says his Doggles (tm) suck.

On the way home from the park, he ATE them. Ate them right off his own face!
Grrr.

Red Doggles

"Oh no! Your Doggles (tm) are slipping off Red Dog!"

No worries! Tweed is rushing to the rescue!

or at least he was, until the ChickenShit was foiled by The Scary Bridge

Same damn bridge; we cross it at least four times a month, and have for years. And Tweed is still scared of it.

There aren't too many photos from today's hike. It was this kind of day:

Brrr. Too cold to take my hands out of my pockets to take photos. We hiked for about two hours, which RD says is all his old body can handle. It's also about one and a half more hours of listening to comments from the peanut gallery than I can handle.

"Oooh, look at the Ray Charles dog." "Ha ha, that dog's wearing shades." "Hee hee, oh that dog is so cool in his stylin' glasses." Etc.

Piper says she is above that sort of attention.

RD continues to watch me continuously with his one open eye. We went for a recheck yesterday and the entire vet clinic exploded with laughter at his Doggles (tm). There has been no improvement, but it's certainly not getting worse either. Both vets feel it is likely to resolve itself in time. I wish time would hurry up! RD doesn't seem to care either way.
I also did not bring the Chuck It (see: too cold to take hands out of pockets) so poor Tweed had to resort to playing with Woo, he was so desperate.

That *never* happens.

But we saw a coyote!!

Okay not really, it was just a dog. But a cool looking dog.
